Overview

Oxeplay is a gaming platform developed for the OxeFit home workout machine, designed to combine fitness and interactive gameplay. The initial module, Classic Kayaking, utilizes integrated sensors and digital resistance controls to immerse users in a vibrant virtual river environment, where their physical effort drives the gameplay. Players navigate obstacles and collect coins, providing an exhilarating cardio workout while enjoying an engaging gaming experience. With features that promote community interaction, such as head-to-head challenges and online spectator modes, Oxeplay sets the foundation for future modules, expanding the interactive fitness journey for users.

Key Features

01. Home Screen

The FitVerse home screen is a central hub for all interactive fitness games. Users can quickly access recent activity, favorite titles, and friends’ gameplay highlights. Game filters make it easy to explore by type or workout focus, creating a personalized and seamless entry point into every session.

02. Multiple Tracks

Turbo Kayaking offers three distinct tracks, each designed with unique challenges and visual styles to keep players engaged. I was also incharge of creating the key art for each environment to align with the game’s clean, modern design and elevate the overall experience.

03. Customization and Pre-Game Setup

Before starting a session, users can customize their kayak to personalize their experience. They can also view their personal best scores and current leaderboard rank to help set goals and get motivated for the challenge ahead.

04. In-game UI

The in-game interface provides a live map to track your position in the competition in real time. It also displays key performance metrics including time elapsed, heart rate, total distance, speed, and calories burned, along with gameplay stats like kayak health, speed boosts, and total coins collected.

05. End game summary

At the end of each session, users are presented with a detailed summary of their performance. This includes personal fitness metrics, in-game stats, and any achievements earned—providing a clear snapshot of progress whether playing solo or in multiplayer mode.

06. User profile

The user profile allows players to view their own activity history as well as their friends’. From this hub, users can manage their social connections—browse their friends list, send and receive friend requests, discover new friend suggestions, and easily search for other players to connect with.

What I Learned

Designing for interactive fitness requires thinking beyond screens—you have to test constantly on real hardware. It’s easy to over-focus on visuals, but prioritizing function and physical interaction ensures the experience feels right in motion.
